The Power Of You!

Image
I watched an Instagram video awhile back of P.diddy, also known as Sean Combs the Sean John billionair, giving a speech at Howard University's Commencement. Diddy, trying to inspire whatever next generation of leaders into action inspired a thought. Diddy said quite clearly, "there is no rescue team, there is no one coming, there is only you... you have to make a decision that when you fail and fall to your knees you will get back up and remember the power of you. You ARE your own light in the darkness". Watch the video for yourself here ! The thought? Well, it feels like the moment you realize you've been waiting your entire life to accept something so obvious and so right in front of your face. I don't know about you but it feels like I've spent the last two years waiting for someone to save me from the bullshit I've had to endure, and some doctor to cure me. The ugly truth is, no one is coming and the cure, if ever, is a long way off. Since

I Knew He Loved Me When He Sent Me Postmates.

With all the hustle and bustle of the chronic illness life I find myself being asked more and more about relationships and loving someone with chronic illness. While I am not a spokesperson for the entire chronic illness population, I would like to offer you a love story that may offer you answers to your questions tucked neatly and nestled between its words. Loving someone with chronic illness is no different than loving someone who doesn't except loving a chronically ill human being takes a little bit of faith, trust, patience, compassion, empathy, ingenuity and pixy dust. I'm kidding, kind of. But seriously I have a chronic illness, ok several, but I'm also a millennial graduate educated small business owning women. Loving me is challenging. I come with my own set of allergies list, emergency doctor reference sheets, Infusion blackout dates, medication reminders, hospital bills, student loans, attitudes, good days and bad. You see now what I mean about it tak

If you consider yourself an Entrepreneur or Business Onwer in the 21st century than odds are you know who Entrepreneurial Guru Gary Vee is. If you don't your first step may be to Google him. You may not agree with his vulgar delivery or raw approach to business lifestyle coaching, but you'd be unwise to heed his branding advice if you plan on growing your brand--invest your time in marketing your services or products. I'll save the exact financial breakdown details for your own personal search. Let's just say Gary Vee turned a 3 million dollar "liquor store" into a 50 million dollar "Wine Library" then grew his personal brand and media consulting firm from to several million followers in just a few years. He's also published several Self development business books, including his most recent "#AskGaryVee: One Entrepreneurs take on Leadership, Social Media, & Self-Awareness".  The guy knows a thing or 10000000 about branding and #w

9 Practical Ways To Support Someone w/ Chronic illness!

I'm Britt, I am a member of a tribe of Chronic Illness Warriors that see the road to better health and self discovery differently. We know we are sick, but our care is our choice. I started Spoonie Essentials Box , a monthly self-care subscription exclusively for fighters like me, a year after an epic battle for my life because understanding the value of Self-Care saved me. It brought me to the happiest, healthiest, best version of my life I've ever lived! I have DRESS Syndrome, a rare disease that literally makes my body shut down from certain medical drugs (& chemicals in general), along with Crohn's Disease, Lupus, and a brief relationship with Colon Cancer. As I become more open about my fight, people without Chronic Illness seem to ask me one of two things: 1. What's a cool "gift idea for a sick friend" or 2. "How to better support someone with chronic illness". The further along I get on this journey, the more I understand and ap
