The Power Of You!

I watched an Instagram video awhile back of P.diddy, also known as Sean Combs the Sean John billionair, giving a speech at Howard University's Commencement. Diddy, trying to inspire whatever next generation of leaders into action inspired a thought. Diddy said quite clearly, "there is no rescue team, there is no one coming, there is only you... you have to make a decision that when you fail and fall to your knees you will get back up and remember the power of you. You ARE your own light in the darkness".

Watch the video for yourself here!

The thought? Well, it feels like the moment you realize you've been waiting your entire life to accept something so obvious and so right in front of your face. I don't know about you but it feels like I've spent the last two years waiting for someone to save me from the bullshit I've had to endure, and some doctor to cure me. The ugly truth is, no one is coming and the cure, if ever, is a long way off. Since I was probably 7 years old I have been raising myself. I taught myself math. I taught myself how to play sports. Honestly I taught myself how to build Spoonie Essentials Box online by watching YouTube.

I have and will always be my own hero. Just like you are already your own hero!

P.diddy reminded me what many of us who fight chronic illness forget, we have survived 100% of our worst days on the planet thus far. All by our damn selves. Not to say we haven't had help via support, encouragement, doctors, maybe even financial assistance but those were all hands up not and not hand outs. It was you that willed yourself through your toughest times. It was you that got back up when life knocked you down. Over and over again, if was always you.

All along you and I have been our own heroes, our own lights in the darkness. I don't know about you, but I think I was afraid to admit and accept no one was coming. It is a really hard thing to accept this very real but simple truth. We will always have help when we need it, we will always have others there to cheer us on and dry our tears, but it is solely up to you and I to save ourselves. We must take our self care seriously. We must love ourselves, all of ourselves, everyday for the rest of our lives. We must decide for ourselves what we want out of our lives.

Whether you're a business owner, a chronic illness patient, a healthy person, a student, a sick friend, a human being; it is often much easier to focus on what you do not have and what you lack than to appreciate what is, what you have, where you're at, what you are or aren't doing, and how much or how often you take care of you. That's what it all boils down too. No one knows what you need better than you do. Whether that's your need to stop working at a job you're not passionate about. Whether it's getting a different doctor to better manage your symptoms. Whether it's accepting and appreciating you're already your own superhero. or entering our $100 Spoonie Essentials Box Shop GIVEAWAY! The minute your attitude towards life matures into realizing the secret to having it all; is knowing you already do!

You know what you want. You know what you need. And only you know how you will be able to get there within your capabilities. Your self awareness of your strengths, your gifts, your blessings is the hack of a lifetime and how you live your best life! It's simple life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react.

Remember the power of you!!!
