True or False: Your Life Depends On Your Level of Self-Care?

by: S.E.B Staff

So, True or False? Your life depends on your level of Self-Care?

Seeing how most people in this day and age hardly ever pay any real attention to those two words when they're together like that, not entirely sure if anyone else actually sees it this way. As if, "Self" and "Care" were the couple everyone loved to talk about, but no one loved to  actually hang out with. ha ha sad, but kinda so true right?

If you're expecting a scientific numerical break down of Self-Care the probability of you dying from lack of Self-Care, unfortunately we are not here for that today. Sorry.

Still want to know why your life depends on your level of Self-Care? Good!

A quick google search and you'll see it technically could be a possible scenario actually. It seems the common underlying thread that binds all Social Media, Mega Magazines, and Self-Help enthusiasts everywhere is that Self-Care at its essence is the ability to ask ourselves as humans what it is we "need" in order to make living as enjoyable as possible.

Seems so simple, yet it's probably the hardest question you haven't asked yourself. Could be doing some major assuming, but when if ever has you asked yourself, "What do I need to make living my life as enjoyable as possible"?

The obvious answer to this question for most of us with Chronic Illness is a cure right? Well maybe. We all understand that a cure may not come in our lifetimes, no team negative nancy or anything. Many Chronic Illness Fighters are aspiring scientists at this very moment, who may one day help and heal us all.

In the meantime though, this is exactly why we as Chronically Fabulous individuals have to see Self-Care differently, we have too take the time to ask ourselves, "What do we need to live well"?

Do you need to ask yourself what you need?
Do you need to see friends more?
Do you need to ask for help?
Do you need a new Doctor?
Do you need time away from social media?
Do you need to change your medicine?
Do you need a pain management plan?
Do you need to eat better or sleep more?
Do you need to find your passion in life?
Do you need to walk away from negative people?
Do you need to spend more time finding out what else you need for you in this life?
Do you need a subscription to Spoonie Essentials Box? (Shamless plus, we know, lol.)

Well since your here, you need to enter our Free Giveaway! Ha ha, like no seriously, what do you need to do for you, from you, and for you?

Having the courage to honestly ask ourselves "what do I need" is by no means an easy task. Sometimes even when we have already asked the question, and maybe even know the answer, it may feel as if achieving our goal is out of reach. Whether it be because of money, time, abilities or what have you; it feels like we cannot get what we need. What we want.

The thing with Self-Care as a Chronic Illness Fighter, it has to be specialized, there are so many levels and layers to taking good care of yourself that the possibilities to show love to yourself just the way you need can be endless. It may not be something outside of  you that you feel is keeping you from what you need in your life, but your mission should you choose to accept....Sincerely ask yourself what you need? Maybe write it down in a journal (the cute on in the Chronically Fabulous Box will do) so you have a clear idea of that that looks like.

After you nail down what you need, the next step is to figure out the process of getting exactly that.

Whether or not your life depends on your level of Self-Care, is solely up to you. There are many things in this life we cannot control, how we treat ourselves should not be one of them.

Self-Care doesn't look the same for everyone, what you need, what your Chronically Ill bestie needs, what your parents or whoever may need may look absolutely nothing like what you need.

We just want to remind you that, that is ok and please remember to give yourselves grace. You are doing the best you can and you need not ever apologize for that.
